Berry or fruit spoons are from the late Victorian period. Most of these
spoons were made in the 1860 -1895 time period.
I particularly enjoy the extremely nice repousse and chasing work which
characterizes the bowls of these spoons.
This type of silversmithing is very difficult and time consuming and
requires an expert to make it look right.
The term berry spoon refers to the practice of serving berries in a
juicy type of syrup, but the decoration is usually some type of fruit
which was also served in this manner.
